Happy New Year’s Eve! I guess this is my last post of 2018! Little bit of a rant about my year ahead….
2018 was an ok year for me. It wasn’t as amazing as say, 2015, or as horrible as 2016. 2018 was great. I solidified who my friends are, worked on my art much more seriously than ever, and got ready for my future. I think the highlight of 2018 for me was seeing BTS in Chicago. No matter what, I will keep that experience close to my heart. I would totally do this whole year again if it meant going to that concert again. I hope everyone has a good year in 2019 and here’s to progress!
Now about this drawing… I wanted to post this drawing separately. I really love Jimin’s outfit in the LY Answer photo shoot and had this piece of holo paper that I saved specifically for this drawing.

I work at a local café they focuses on high quality, organic, fair trade ingredients. We are also located in an expensive city, so obviously our tea and coffee is going to be more expensive than your local galaxy$ or Peter’s. I am aware that your average joe can’t afford our prices. Most of our customers are the wealthy business people who work nearby. I’m used to people coming in, not looking at the prices on the menu board before ordering and then throwing a fit when things are expensive, but this lady got on my nerves.

Lady (walks in directly off the street and doesn’t even pause to look for the menu board): Do you have iced tea?

Me: Yes. Would you like green or black?

Lady: Black.

Me: Ok, that’ll be $4.50

Lady: WHAT?!??

Me: $4.50

Lady: That’s ridiculous! You don’t expect me to SUPPORT that, do you?

Me: Sorry, that’s what the price is.

Lady: I can’t support that! How much is a decaf coffee?

Me (still aware that she could be reading the menu board behind my head to find something in her price range): $3.50

Lady: WHat??? I CANNOT support this! What do you expect me to do????

I expect you to be able to read a menu, and to get out of line if you realize you can’t afford to shop at a certain establishment so that the people who are now waiting behind you can get their coffee. This is a metropolitan are. There are two coffee shops on every block. No one is forcing you to buy your coffee from us.

What annoyed me is that she kept saying “I can’t support this" like we were a group of robber barons. The people who can buy our tea and coffee are SUPPORTING ethical business practices. Our mission statement is printed on the wall. The farmers in other countries who are growing our products are being paid a fair wage. Their products are being grown organically. My coworkers and I are being paid a livable wage, and we get health care benefits. It’s fine that you can’t afford to get coffee here, but don’t throw a fit about how you don’t support us. It’s not my fault that ethical business practices are more costly.

I ended up telling her that there was a galaxy$ across the street from us. Hope she has fun supporting corporations instead of small businesses.
